5.00pm performance

After last year’s fabulous sell-out, the internationally-acclaimed Locrian Ensemble return to Gawsworth for another splendid Proms concert.

Once more they will be joined by the Dinky Diva – top soprano Annette Wardell – with the performance building to a heroic Last Night finale, to include Land of Hope and Glory, Nimrod, Hornpipe (Fantasia on British Sea Songs) and so many more best of British favourites alongside Rule Britannia.

With this year marking the 75th anniversary of VE day, there will also be a celebration of much-loved wartime classics such as Vera Lynn’s We’ll Meet Again.

The London-based Locrian have topped the classical charts with their music to the award-winning BBC1 production of Wolf Hall. And they are frequently heard performing on television, providing scores for the likes of Shakespeare and Hathaway, and Father Brown. They also recorded the theme music to the Andrew Marr Show. As always, the Locrian shows are peppered with good humour and high emotion from these charismatic musicians.

‘The Locrians have a formidable international reputation.’ London Evening Standard
