Garden Theatre

25 June to 1 August 2021

About

The garden theatre began in 1969, with a Shakespeare performance in the Tilting Ground. In the decades since, the summer performances have become a huge part of the Gawsworth calendar, moving to the Hall’s sunken lawn, with the beautiful backdrop of the Tudor courtyard and rose garden.

Previous acts to perform at the garden theatre include: Russell Watson, The Hollies, Jimmy Carr, KT Tunstall, Alfie Boe, Joan Armatrading, John Bishop, Kate Rusby, Michael Portillo, The Proclaimers, the D’Oyly Carte, Ronnie Scott’s, and many more.

Please note for 2021, the theatre will be running without the usual covered grandstand.

Acts will perform on a festival stage in front of the Hall, with the audience seated on the front and camomile lawns. Please bring your own garden chairs and picnic rugs. Gazebos are allowed as long as they do not impinge on the view of the stage.
