Sir Simon Jenkins, former chairman of the National Trust, when reviewing Britain’s finest houses for The Times, said: “The Hall is a star, a superb example of Cheshire black and white architecture.”
On a tour of this lived in, and much loved historic house, you will see fine paintings, sculpture and stained glass.
Tours of the house and grounds are not guided. Members of the Richards family, and knowledgeable staff, will be on hand to welcome you and are then stationed through the Hall should you have any questions.
An illustrated guidebook is available for the house. There is also a detailed study of the gardens and recent excavations by Rick Turner of the tilting ground.
The oak-built Orchard tea room mirrors the opening hours of the house, and serves various hot and cold drinks, and locally sourced good things.
Admission to the House and Grounds: Adult £7.50, Child £3.00.
